The Tumakuru district court convicted 25-year-old cattle grazer and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for hacking a 17-year-old PU student to death after she refused his marriage proposal in Kallambella police station limits in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district on April 2021.
The accused according to the police,the accused Eeranna,resident of Doddagula village used to stalk the victim,17,the oldest of three daughters of Pandurangappa.
Eeranna was forcing the girl marry him but she refused several times.When she was walking alone to catch a bus to Sira to attend I PUC classes,the accused followed her on his motorbike and waylaid her.He later dragged her to a lake side and tried to knot the mangalsutra.
Irritated victim slapped him in refusal.Enraged Eeranna attacked her with a sickle multiple times and escaped.
Her friends who had accompanied her raised alarm and with the help of passers-by rushed her to hospital where she was declared dead.
The Kallambella police based on the complaint track down Eeranna and arrested him on the charges of murder and filed a charge-sheet subsequently .
