The Bidadi police on Wednesday arrested two factory workers for writing Pro-Pakistan slogan and abusive content against Kannadigas on the washroom walls of a factory on March.
The incident soon turned into a unrest after the workers and the local activists staged a protest demanding strict actions against the perpetrators for involved in anti national activities .
Based on the complaint,the Bidadi police swung into action and after a detailed probe arrested Hameed Hussain,21,Yadgir, and Sadiq, 24,Kalaburagi both from north Karnataka.The suspects had been working on a contract basis with the company.
Probe revealed that the accused were enraged after their colleagues had mocked them over India defeating their arch rival Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy cricket match.In order to take revenge the accused wrote the slogans.
On March 14,two phrases—one hailing Pakistan and another abusing Kannadigas—were found written on two different walls of the washroom of the factory located in Bhimenahalli near Bidadi.
The management got it erased and issued a circular on the notice board warning the employees not to indulge in such activities.
However,an unknown employee had shared the scribbling on social media platforms,which went viral led to the protest .
After the picture went viral on social media,the HR filed a complaint with the Bidadi police,leading to the arrest of the suspects.
The Bidadi police have booked the duo under section 196 (actions or speech that promote disharmony,enmity, or hatred between different groups based on religion, race,language,or region,aiming to maintain social harmony and prevent public disturbances) and 353(2) (the act of making, publishing,or circulating false statements, rumors, or alarming news with the intent to create or promote enmity, hatred,or ill will between different groups),of the BNS along with relevant sections of the IT Act.
The police prepared a list of suspect and made them to write the same slogans to match the handwriting a senior officer said.
