Bengaluru’s first summer rain: 3-year-old girl killed as tree trunk falls on moving bike

A three-year-old girl died after a tree trunk snapped and crashed on a moving bike near Devarajeevanahalli Park in East Bengaluru on Saturday, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Raksha,a resident of Jeevanahalli.Her father suffered minor injuries.

The incident unfolded on Poorva Park Main Road around 8.30 pm.

Senior officer told reporters,Due to rain and strong winds caused the snapping of a tree trunk,which crashed on the bike.The trunk directly fell on the kid and injured her head critically.While she was rushed to the Bowring hospital immediately,doctors pronounced that she had succumbed to head injuries and extreme loss of blood.

Though no complaint has been filed yet,police have collected preliminary details from the spot.

An investigator who was at the spot said that the father and daughter had gone to meet their relative who runs a hot chips shop in Jeevanahalli.The incident occurred when they were returning home.

city paralysed by waterlogging, flights diverted

According to the Joint CP Traffic,MN Anucheth,on X’ heavy waterlogging at Hunsmaranahalli caused severe congestion,affecting traffic towards the International Airport.However, the waterlogging was later cleared, and traffic was normalised.

At least 19 flights are being diverted to other destinations due to the weather conditions in Bengaluru.10 of these flights were diverted to Chennai.

According to officials,out of the 19 flights that were diverted,11 were IndiGo flights,four were Air India Express,two were Akasa,and two were Air India flights.

Rains also caused major disruptions in electricity supply in parts of the city,in Rajajinagar it disrupted from 7 pm till 3 am in the morning after continuous calls from consumers the officers were on their toes to restore the power supply while hailstorms were reported in places like Hosakote in the Bengaluru Rural district.
