While objecting to the bail plea,Directorate of Revenue Intelligence made a submission that, Ranya Rao the prime accused in the gold smuggling case used Hawala transaction to buy gold .
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) told the court on March 25 that Kannada actress Ranya Rao confessed during her questioning that the funds for purchasing gold were transferred via hawala transactions.
Eloborating on the claim,counsel representing DRI,said that the money to buy gold has been sent to Ranya Rao through hawala and she confessed to this before the DRI,officials during the questioning.
The 64th City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru heards both the arguments and reserved the order on March 27 .
Earlier advocates representing Ranya Rao submitted that the DRI violated all the procedures while making the arrest and hence she is liable for the bail.
