Bengaluru:Rapido rider and passenger killed in BMTC bus crash after U-turn attempt

A 33-year-old Rapido bike rider and the pillion rider were crushed to death when came under the moving BMTC bus after losing control near ISRO Signal on HAL Main Road on Wednesday night .

The deceased Tapas Dhali,33,rapido bike rider the pillion Aditya Bose,31,working in a private firm were heading from Manipal junction to HAL at around 10.30 pm when the incident occurred .

It was a TML Electric Bus with a Registration Number: KA 51 AJ 6167 deployed for KBS to Kadugodi route .

The BMTC bus was also heading the same direction when Tapas in a bid to overtake the bus went ahead and lost balance as the handle of the bike touched the bus the duo fell down and run over by the bus.

The driver and the conductor fled the scene abandoning the bus and few passengers.

Passers-by rushed to the help and shifted the victims to the near-by hospital where the doctors declared them as brought dead.

The driver later appeared before the JB Nagar traffic police and was arrested charging him under death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving.

Meanwhile the BMTC officials who conducted a probe claimed that by their Preliminary investigations including a review of CCTV footage,indicated that the two-wheeler rider attempted to overtake the bus near the ISRO signal. .

In the process,it collided with an oncoming car and due to the impact,the riders of the two-wheeler lost control and fell under the rear wheel of the BMTC bus.

The Police have subjected the driver for medical examination and awaiting report to ascertain whether he is under the influence of any intoxication.

The police are also analysing the CCTV footage and inquiring with the eye witnesses to ascertain the facts .
