The Chandra Layout police on Monday registered a dowry harassment and attempt to murder case against a police Sub Inspector and his parents for torturing a newly married wife for more dowry for the last one year .
Unable to bear harassment Varsha R,27,filed a complaint based on which the police have registered a case against Kishore P, Presently working in Mudigere and his parents charging them under dowry prohibition act, attempt to murder,cruelty towards married woman, criminal insult and criminal intimidation among other charges .
The victim was married to Kishore in November 2023 and it was a arranged marriage fixed through a broker .
The parents of the victim paid a heavy dowry and bore the marriage expenses in a grand manner.
Despite this the accused continue to demand dowry on every occasion starting from car and Rs.10 lakh which he wanted to pay the bribe for his senior to get transfer .
The victim when resisted his demand the accused started assaulting her physically and tortured her.
Unable to bear the torture she had even attempted to end life but the accused saved her in nick of the time and assaulted again.
The victim during one of such torture passed out and admitted to the hospital.Following the counselling and inquiry by the parents she narrated her ordeal .
Based on her statement,the police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the accused who is absconding.
