Caught on Camera:Man follows woman,molests her and runs away in Bengaluru

In a disturbing incident caught on CCTV,a woman was sexually harassed by an unidentified man on Thursday in Bengaluru’s BTM Layout,Suddaguntepalya area.

Senior officer said,the footage shows two women walking through a narrow,deserted alley lined with parked two-wheelers when a man suddenly approaches from behind and appears to grope one of them before fleeing the scene.

The women are then seen walking away from the scene. The video of the incident is now being widely circulated online,sparking public outrage and reigniting serious concerns over the safety of women in the city.

An FIR has been registered under Section 354B of the IPC (assault or use of criminal force with intent to disrobe a woman) at the Suddaguntepalya Police Station.

The case was filed following a complaint from a local resident who came across the viral video of the incident.

Rise in cases of rape,molestation of women

This alarming case adds to a string of recent incidents highlighting growing concerns over women’s safety.On the same day,Bengaluru Police arrested a 30-year-old badminton coach accused of raping a 16-year-old student.

The crime came to light after the victim’s grandmother discovered an obscene image on the girl’s phone.The minor had been living with her grandmother after finishing her Class 10 exams.

In a separate incident just two weeks earlier,an assistant professor at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Silchar,Assam, was arrested for allegedly molesting a female student.

The arrest was made after the survivor’s detailed letter recounting the abuse went viral, sparking protests across the campus.
