Unable to bear alleged harassment from wife,a 26-year-old software engineer tried to immolate himself in front of Raj Bhavan on Sunday evening.
The accused Zubair,resident of Hebbal was detained by security personnel and handed over to Jurisdictional Vidhana Soudha police for further action.
The incident occurred at around 4.30 pm when Zubair carrying a bag pack walked into the entrance of the Raj Bhavan and pulled out a plastic bottle containing petrol and poured himself in a bid to immolate.
The security personnel swung into action and detained him and washed him with water as part of preventive measures
zubair told the police later that he is dejected from life as wife had filed a dowry harassment case against him in Chikkaballapura and also assaulted hi.He went and got MLC done but police refused to take a complaint .
The vidhana soudha police counselled him and summoned his parents for enquiry.He was booked under public nuisance case for further investigation.
The police said that it was a gimmick to seek public attention zubair came to Raj Bhavan to grab media attention and vent his grouse a senior officer said.
