Rehab center owner,Warden arrested by Nelamangala Rural Police for thrashing brutally inmate for refusing to wash warden’s dirty clothes;video goes viral

The Nelamangala rural police have registered a suo motu case against a rehab centre warden and owner and arrested them after a video of staff allegedly torturing an inmate beating him Black and blue after he refused to comply with their orders.

Taking cognizance of the incident two cases have been registered against Sai Freedom Foundation staff under hurt and also under arms act after the owner of the rehab centre used a sword to cut his birthday cake, superintendent of police Bengaluru district,CK Baba, said .

The incident reportedly occurred few days ago and the inmate who has been subjected to alleged torture is said to be admitted to hospital and put of danger.

The inmates and family members alleged that the staff beat them brutally in the garb of rehab if they did not agree to do manual labouring.

There was no proper food,medication and activities but the inmates treated by the staff inhuman condition,they alleged.

The inmates do not get better medical facility nor they were allowed to meet their family members or friends during the time of treatment.

The inmates are abused and tortured regularly if they don’t listen.Beating the inmates by the staff is a routine work to instill a sense of fear among them and it to subdue them to listen to them to comply orders,the inmates alleged.

The police said that they are verifying the allegations to ascertain if the rehad centre which said to be recognised by state government had deviated its rules.

The police on tuesday visited the rehab centre and inquired with the inmates and staff as part of the investigation .

We will take legal action based on the outcome of the investigation a senior officer said.
