Daily wage labourer sentenced to life imprisonment with Rs.1 Lakh by Tumakuru District Fast Track Special Court for sodomising nine year old boy

The Tumakuru district fast track special court on Thursday convicted a 40-year-old daily wage labourer for sodomising a class four nine-year-old boy on the pretext of buying him snacks near Kyathsndra Railway Station, Shree Siddaganga Matha in Tumakuru on September 2022.

The victim,native of Hubballi was admitted to the Mutha hostel along with his elder brother aged 11 years.His parents are daily wage employee and could not afford the children education admitted the duo to the hostel for studies .

However the victim was missing home and wanted to talk to his parents.He ventured out and met the accused outside the hostel asking him to help him talk to his parents.

The accused called his parents and made the victim to talk for few minutes and lured the victim to buy him chicken and Kurkure.

The accused took the victim to an isolated place on the pretext of buying him snacks and sodomised him near a temple before he was dropped back.

The victim was unwell since that day and developed infection.He went home few days later and the parents took him to the KIMS for consultation.

The doctor after examining infection at his private parts suspected something suspicious counselled him.

After couple of rounds of counselling the victim confessed following which the doctors informed the police and asked the parents to go to Tumakuru and file a complaint.

The parents initially hesitant to file a complaint but the Child Welfare committee members and the police Inspector,Naveen Kumar MB,convinced the parents and the victim and recorded their statement.

Based on the statement the police track down the accused identified as Basavaraju and arrested him charging under section 377 (unnatural sexual offence) and also under various section of the POCSO act.

A detailed chargesheet the court convicted the accused sentencing him to life term imprisonment with a fine of Rupees One Lakh.

The court also asked the government to give rupees eight lakh compensation to the victim.
