District Lokayukta officials trapped and arrested Commercial tax inspector & his associate accepting bribe of Rs.20 Lakhs

The Bengaluru district Lokayukta officials on Thursday trapped Commercial tax inspector and his associate red handed while accepting Rs.20 lakh bribe from a Delhi based pan masala company for an official favour.

The accused Nijanandamurthy was arrested under Prevention of Corruption Act after his associate identified as Manoj M was caught red handed while accepting the bribe near a hotel in Nagarabhavi on behalf of the Inspector.

Based on his information the Lokayukta officials arrested Nijanandamurthy and later raided his house.

The accused according to the Lokayukta officials had unholy nexus with the pan masala company based in Delhi and fixed monthly rate of bribe to allow the consignment into the city illegally.

This nexus is not only rampant and leading to corrupt practices but also incurred huge loss to the state exchequer,the official,said.

Based on the information,the Lokayukta officials on Wednesday had registered a case against the accused and laid a trap on Thursday.
