Suraj Revanna arrested in Sexual assault case sent to 14 days judicial custody

e Hassan police on Sunday arrested JDS MLC Dr Suraj Revanna on Sunday and remanded in to judicial custody for 14 days.

Suraj is accused of sexually abusing a male JD(S) party worker in Hassan was arrested soon after he walked into the station to give his statement.

The police subjected him to medical examination and brought to the city since the government decided to hand over the case to CID for a detailed probe.

On Sunday,Suraj was brought to Bengaluru by the Hassan police following his arrest.He was produced before the magistrate at their residence in Koramangala.The judge then remanded Suraj in judicial custody for 14 days.

Well-placed sources said that the handover of the case to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was yet to be completed and the investigation agency would likely move for the MLC’s custody soon.

Dr.Suraj was booked under IPC Sections 377 (unnatural offences),342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) in Hassan after the survivor filed a complaint.

The survivor had earlier written a letter to the DG&IGP Alok Mohan,Chief Minister Siddaramaiah,Home Minister,G Parameshwara and the Hassan SP, Mohammed Sujeetha M S.

Suraj’s close aide Shivakumar on Friday filed a police complaint accusing the survivor and his brother-in-law of attempting to extort the MLC.

The Holenarasipura Town police opened a case under IPC sections 384 (extortion),506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (involvement of others in the conspiracy).

Earlier the victim was subjected to medical examination at bowring hospital by a team of doctors.

This was probably the first case the doctors had to deal about the un natural sexual offence case.
