Pramesh S Jain

I n order to ensure better law and order situation, senior officials should mandatorily visit police stations regularly to supervise and monitor day to day affairs as per the police manual,Chief minister Siddaramaiah said here on Saturday.

This is probably the second time,Mr.Siddaramaiah issued this directions again as even earlier he had issued similar directions stressing the need of senior police officials regular visit would improve the policing work.

Addressing senior police officers conference at the police headquarters,he said that local police expected to be aware of all crime and law and order issues and should have high level of accountability and responsibility to ensure public safety and law and order .

If police officer determine he could maintain law and order situation effectively,he said .

SP and IG level officials will also be directly responsible if clubs, gambling, betting, drugs are not stopped in your jurisdiction, and action will be taken.

SP-IGs warned that all these can be avoided if they go to each station and carry out inspections.SP,IG should visit the stations from tomorrow itself.

Formalities of visiting the station should not be finished in half an hour but a thorough inspection should be carried out.

They should not involve in real estate business or linked to anti social elements, strict action would be initiated against the officials if they failed in their duties .

The police officials at the station level well versed with the crime and law and order scenario.“If the police really want they can prevent crime and maintain law and order effectively“,he said .

Citing the loopholes in the policing,Mr.Siddaramaiah, said that there is no coordination between law and order police personnel and intelligence wing of the police. The police should have better plans and treat every tip offs seriously,he said .

Citing the example of Anjali murder case where the family had complained to the earlier citing threat perception from the accused.

Had the police taken preventive measures, the murder could have prevented,Mr.Siddaramaiah, said .

Similarly the tragic death of five people by drowning who jumped into the lake fearing police arrest during the raid on gambling spot,he said that the police should know the gambling and other illegal activities in their jurisdiction and had taken preventive action the deaths would have been prevented .

He also hinted police not to side with any organization citing a recent incident where the entire staff of the station posed for the photograph wearing particular dress during Ayodha pooja.

The state police have a high standard and earned the name,It should be taken forward and not otherwise,he advised adding that better law and order situation will improve the state prosperity in terms of investment, employment and economic growth.

Fake news damage the fabric of society .

The fake news on social media is on the rise and people are harassed, tarnished and spreading communal hatred. There are fact check units at district level .

The police should monitor social media and strict action should be initiated on those spreading hatred and disturbing law and order as preventive measures .

The police should make use of artificial intelligence register suo-motu complaints spontaneously to take strict and deterrent action.

No zero traffic for CM and minister:

Calling upon the traffic police to improve the traffic situation,Mr.Siddaraimaiah, said that like law and order counterparts, the traffic police officers should monitor and supervise the traffic situations from the ground zero.

The senior police officers should come down and stand at the junctions along with the traffic policemen and monitor the traffic instead of sitting at their AC cabins and monitor, he said .

“I have told the police not to provide zero traffic facility for me or for any ministers“,he said .

Stop The Drug Menace :

Who are the drug dealers? The respective station officials know who are the rowdies and Real estate agents.

However,he asked why it is not stopping.

Why are you given guns? .

Why are rowdies not afraid of this?.
