he JB Nagar police arrested CEO of a kannada news channel red handed for running extortion racket through honey trap.
Based on a complaint by owner of a spa,the JB Nagar police track down R.Venkatesh and his associate charging him under blackmailing and extortion and criminal intimidation.
The accused according to the complaint would send a woman as decoy seeking job as masseur in the spa followed by customer to book for the slot.
The masseur and the customer who are part of the racket would record video of their private movement and hand it over to Venkatesh and gang.
The masseur would vanish from the spa soon after the video was recorded.
Armed with the video venkatesh would barge into the spa posing as TV media reporters and accused the spa management for running the prostitution racket.
The accused would later demand ransom and threaten to air the story with the video to tarnish the image of the spa and the management.
The accused tried to blackmail the owner of spa using similar MO but suspecting something fishy the spa owner filed a complaint.
Based on the complaint the police track down venkatesh before he could escape.He was taken into custody for questioning while efforts are on to track down others including the woman Anchor of the TV channel who is suspected to be part of the racket.
Venkatesh would move in high end car and lead luxurious life,he was also involved in similar case reported in Indiranagar police station limits,a senior officer,part of the probe,said.
Considering the magnitude of the case,DCP East Division formed special team to track down others accused who are working in the garb of journalists and presently on the run.
