Karnataka police to launch wide drive against wrong-side driving,FIR on those who drive on wrong side from Aug 1

After successful implementation of the drive against dazzling lights,the state police are gearing up to crack the whip on motorists driving or riding against one ways.

Alok Kumar,Additional director general of police,traffic and road safety in his circular to all the commissionerates and superintendent of police of all the district to launch the drive from August 1 and book FIR against erring motorists under section 281 (rash driving in public way) of BNS and also under section 184 Driving a motor vehicle above the speed limit or dangerously is an offence) of IMV act.

Concerned about the growing fatal road accidents and flashing dazzling lights and rash and negligent driving, the chief of the state police had issued directions to the police to initiate measures to contain the road accidents.

According to Alok Kumar police should also take action against motorists violating traffic rules on the highway and also in the city and district head quarters limits and also against defective number plates which is also a matter of concern for traffic police in terms of booking offences on-line.

The police officials concerned should create awareness on social media and also off line including distributing pamphlets and announcements through public address system before initiating the drive .

The officials have been asked to submit action taken report by August 31.

Mr.Kumar also appreciated police officials of Bengaluru City,Mysuru,Hubli Dharwad,Mangaluru,Chamarajanagar, Uttara Kannada,Raichur,Ballary and Vijayanagar district for implementing drive against dazzling lights effectively and registered highest number of cases.
