Members of dalit community and backward classes staged protest seeking protection from upper caste following repeated attacks and youths hand severed by armed gang

Tension prevailed at Malagalu village in Kanakapura in Ramanagar district for sometime as members of Dalit community and backward classes staged a protest seeking protection from the uppar caste following repeated attacks on them.

Members of the community on tuesday marched to DC office and submitted a memorandum seeking protection and necessary action against the attackers .

On Sunday an armed gang belonging to Vokkaliga community barged into Siddappaji temple Road in Malagalu,Kanakapua Town and attacked Anish Kumar sitting outside his house.

As a result Anish left hand was severed and several others who came to his rescue were also assaulted . The victims later rushed to different hospital while Anish,is being treated at St Johns hospital .

According to the complaint,the trouble began on Sunday evening when few youth standing on the roadside near Javanammanadoddi Cheenarakuppe circle and chit chatting.

The accused belonging to different community passing by confronted them and questioned them about their presence.

Heated argument ensued between them following which the accused left the place and returned after two hours armed with lethal weapons and attacked the locality.

Seven people including three women sustained severe injuries in the attack and being treated at the hospital .

The police rushed to the spot and deployed additional force to maintain law and order situation.Senior police officials visited the hospital and spoke to the victims to taker stock of the situation.

Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused identified as Harsha and six others charging them under section 118,(Voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means),198 (unlawful assembly ),329 (criminal trespass),351(Whoever threatens another by any means,with any injury to his person,reputation or property,or to the person or reputation of any one in whom that person is interested,with intent to cause alarm to that person)and section 76 (Assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe)of BNS and also under the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act for further investigation.

Earlier on Wednesday a similar attack has been reported in Thamasandra Circle Village,Kasaba Hobali Kanakapura armed group belonging to different community attacked the Dalit community members over a trivial row during a house warning ceremony.

The accused were miffed about the community members putting up pedal to arrange food for the guest attended the program .

The accused barged into the residential locality attacked the community members with lethal weapons.As a result six women among 13 people were injured .

The Kanakapura rural police registered the case under atrocities act and also under various sections of BNS .

Both the incident occurred at the constituency represented by Deputy Chief Minister,DK Shivakumar and the accused belonging to vokkaliga community belonging to his party.
