The Pulakeshinagar police on tuesday arrested 34-year-old habitual offenders involved in over 66 house break thefts .
The accused Karthik alias Escape Karthik who had over 38 house break thefts pending against him was on the run for the last one year until, alert police pinned him down near Lingarajpuram underpass .
Karthik,who declared by the court as proclaimed offender is a resident of Kothanur and has committed thefts across Karnataka,Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh.
A high school drop out Karthik started committing theft when he was aged 16.He has been active in crime since 2005.
He had once escaped from the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in 2007 by hiding in a vegetable van that had come to the prisons to deliver vegetables and since then his alias name has been ‘Escape’.
Few years later he had managed to escape from JB Nagar police custody while he was being escorted for spot inspection.The police caught him again and remanded to judicial custody.
Karthik maintained a good physique and also practiced jumping and climbing high rise buildings which helped him to commit crime and escape .
The accused used to lead a lavish life and also maintain good number of advocates who helped him to get bail whenever he is arrested, a senior officer, said .
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner, B Dayananda has appreciated Addl CP East,Raman Gupta DCP East,D Devaraj,ACP,C R Geetha,PI,Govindaraju B and his crime team for their meticulous work and investigation in nabbing the notorious dreaded HBT offender who is master in escape has finally landed in jail and is cooling his heels in jail a special reward will be given to whole team for the tremendous job done by them he added.
