BJP MLA Munirathna remanded to police custody by court,‘Charges against me are baseless’ says BJP MLA Munirathna

The RR Nagar MLA detained from nangli,the special court on Sunday remanded Munirathna to police custody for two days.

The MLA from RR Nagar in Bengaluru was arrested by the police on Saturday evening in Kolar in connection with two cases relating to harassing a BBMP contractor, hurling casteist slurs and outraging a woman’s modesty, among other allegations.

The police have recorded his voice samples to be sent to it FSL for analysis.Muniratna disputed that the complaint is politically motivated and denied that it was not his voice in the record .

The local police detained Munirathna in Mulbagal’s Nangli village bordering Andhra Pradesh at around 5.30 pm on Saturday.

The accused MLA was heading to Andhra Pradesh to avoid arrest and prepare for anticipatory bail when a team of Kolar police intercepted his car and detained .

He was then handed over to the Bengaluru police and was brought to the city Saturday evening.The MLA was produced before the Special Court late Saturday night and was remanded to police custody.

The cases against the MLA were registered after two FIRs were filed at Vyalikaval police station on Friday night.

In the first FIR,Munirathna was booked for alleged harassment for bribes,criminal intimidation,cheating,and voluntarily causing harm.

In the second FIR,he was booked under sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and IPC,including provocation to commit a riot,promoting enmity between different groups,and intention to insult the modesty of a woman.

The complaints were filed by Cheluvaraju,a BBMP contractor,and Velunayakar,a former councillor.
