24-year-old woman was killed on the spot and autorickshaw driver injured when a speeding truck crashed into the autorickshaw on police Thimmaiah junction in the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Shalini,native of Kerala while the injured driver,Imran admitted to hospital and being treated.
Senior officer told reporters,the incident occurred at around 4 am when Shalini resident of Chinnappa garden booked the autorickshaw through Namma Yatri App , heading to Majestic .
The accused truck driver heading towards Hebbal jumped the signal and crashed into the autorickshaw.
Due to the impact the vehicle mangled and Shalini was killed on the spot .
The truck driver stopped the vehicle and sped away after parking the truck a few yards away from the scene of the accident.
The Cubbon park traffic police rushed to the spot and track down the accused driver identified as Manu from Hassan.
Manu told the police that he was dozed off and driving which led to the accident.He was not drunk and booked under death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving, a senior officer,said.
