West Bengal man arrested for sending bomb threat emails to prominent Bengaluru colleges

n a significant development,the VV Puram police have arrested a man responsible for sending threatening emails,claiming to have planted bombs in prominent Bengaluru colleges.

The accused identified as Deepanjan Mishra (48) is a Bcom graduate was apprehended on Thursday in Salisbury Town,Darjeeling District,West Bengal,following a thorough investigation by Bengaluru police.

The investigation was launched after two college principals from Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) and BMS College received threatening emails on October 4,from an unknown email address.

The emails warned that advanced hydrogen-based IEDs had been planted on their respective campuses, causing immediate alarm.

The principals of both institutions filed formal complaints,resulting in cases being registered at VV Puram police station and Hanumanthnagar police station.

Upon investigating,authorities tracked the origin of the emails,leading them to the suspect in West Bengal.

Upon arrest,the accused confessed to sending the emails and revealed his involvement in sending at least 10 similar cases of bomb threats across the city.

Police have seized an HP laptop and a Nokia mobile phone which he used to execute the crime.

The police are now working to link him to additional bomb threat cases registered at various police stations in Bengaluru.
