I haven’t given any assurance or done Injustice to party workers:Bommai

Former CM and MP Basavaraj Bommai sought to clarify that he had never promised anyone of a ticket for the Shiggaon assembly by-election or done Injustice to party workers.

Responding to allegations that he promised a ticket in the Shiggaon constituency,he told reporters here on Monday he hadn’t promised a ticket to anyone.

There were around 50 aspirants, and had told everyone to abide by the party’s decision. This was not his decision; it was the party’s decision.I did not promise anyone, nor did I go back on my word,”he clarified.

Bommai said he was not keen on fielding his son and had said ‘no’until the last moment.Ultimately, the high command decided to give the ticket, keeping in mind the potential for victory. It was their decision, and it is his duty to follow the party’s order. It was Union Home Minister Amit Shah who finalized the ticket.

Reacting to allegations that injustice was done to ordinary party workers, the former CM said,I haven’t done any injustice to any of the workers. He had provided them with cabinet positions and given them several opportunities.I will speak with Srikanth Dundigouda and work to convince him”.

When asked about BJP ticket aspirant C.P.Yogeshwar resigning from his Legislative Council membership, the MP said he was not aware of today’s developments. Attempts were made late last night to convince him.

The national leadership is in talks and working to resolve the matter, I am confident that the situation will be corrected.

Yogeshwar has a desire to contest.Since HD. Kumaraswamy’s constituency is involved, they both should have coordinated earlier.

The delay may have led to this decision. Our party’s high command will intervene and work to resolve the issue.
Replying to a question,Bommai declined to comment on C.P.Yogeshwar’s alleged contacts with Congress leaders.
