Amaravati: There are many reasons behind CM Chandrababu’s decision to set up a drone hub at Orvakallu, Investments and Infrastructure Department Secretary Suresh Kumar said. With the establishment of a special hub, manufacturing industries and drone testing facilities will be available. He was speaking after presenting a key document on ‘Strategic Framework for Building AP Drone Ecosystem’ at the Amaravati Drone Conference. “Training, certification, assembling units, repairs, maintenance services, DOS (Drones as a Service) ecosystem will develop. With these facilities seedling industries will grow. The government will provide all necessary permissions for drone-related businesses in the state under a single window system.

Advantages of setting up in Orvakallu..

  • The runway at the nearby Kurnool Airport can be used for drone observation.
  • Up to 10,000 acres are available for setting up subsidiary companies required for drone manufacturing industries.
  • It is also close to the cities of Hyderabad and Bangalore. The government will provide all the permissions to the organizations set up here. Being declared a flying zone does not require DGCA permissions.
  • We will allow the establishment of drone industries in other parts of the state. However, they have to provide necessary DGCA, Air Traffic Control permits and other licenses.

To provide opportunities..

Our country’s share in the field of drones is only 3 percent. The Center hopes to increase this to at least 20 percent. The state government is making policies to provide wide opportunities in this. Mapping, surveying, agriculture, photography, inspections and surveillance are considered key areas for the use of drones. It plans to create a drone-friendly environment in the state by making available the use of drones in different sectors and government departments, incentives, integration with artificial intelligence, trade policy to promote the manufacturing sector. It has set a target of Rs. 6 thousand crore revenue in five years through the drone sector in the state. A draft drone policy has been announced to provide employment to 12,500 people with an investment of Rs.1000 crores in this sector. We will make changes based on the suggestions of stakeholders and experts and take the final policy by November,’ he explained.
