Haveri (Shiggaon):Former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai alleged that the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Haveri district has changed his statement under pressure from the state government in connection with a case involving the Congress candidate of the Shiggaon-Savanur constituency, who is reportedly a rowdy-sheeter.
Speaking to the media about the clarification given by the Haveri SP regarding the Congress candidate, Bommai said that the SP had previously stated the facts based on the prevailing situation in response to a media question, and this was published in the media.
The MP noted that SPs do not make statements lightly; they do so after gathering information. However, under the pressure of the government, the SP has now said there is no case.
There should be an investigation into the SP’s statement and the truth should be uncovered.I would file a complaint with the Election Commission the next day”.
He pointed out that last year there were numerous cases against the Congress candidate. The SP had referred to police manuals and rules when explaining the conclusion of cases. Now,the government has forced the SP to claim that there are no cases,Bommai alleged.
The former CM said he do not engage in politics of hatred against anyone;he do not need to.The cases against the Congress candidate exist in his own constituency. “:
Did I tell the SP to make such statements, as Ajjampeer Khadri initially mentioned about Yasir Khan?.
The media has released photos of the Congress candidate with terrorists.I have no connection with that.”
When asked about allegations against the BJP candidate related to Bitcoin,Bommai said,The state government has been investigating for the past one and a half years.Bharat Bommai has no connection with Bitcoin and the accusations are baseless”.
