T he Jayanagar police arrested a gang of three from Nepal who along with two of their accomplice stole,1.6 kgs of gold 950 grams of silver articles and cash Rs.1.5 lakh after sedating home alone senior citizen with a spiked alcohol on October 21.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner,B Dayananda told reporters,the accused Prakash Shahi,46,Apil Shahi,41 and Jagadish Shahi,39 were from Nepal working as security guard and food delivery executive in the city , ganged up with a couple from their native Ganesh and Geetha to execute the plan.
The prime accused in the case Ganesh and Geetha were working as domestic help at the house of Venkatesh Nadubeedi situated in Jayanagar 3rd block,for the last two years .
During investigation it was found that Venkatesh along with his family members went out with his family members to attend a family program,leaving his father Nagesh alone at home.Nagesh is owner of a Sampige theatre in the city .
Venkatesh had instructed Ganesh and Geetha to take care of Nagesh before leaving home,but the couple had other plans.
As per the plan the couple served sedative and burgled the valuables and escaped while Mr.Nagesh fell unconscious.
Following the complaint,a team led by Jayanagar police Inspector,Deepak R and his crime staff tracked down three of the accused and recovered 1.6 kilos of gold valuables 450 grams of silver articles total worth Rs. 1.12 crore from them.
A detailed investigation revealed that the accused Apil shahi,worked as security in school prodigies intl school varthur and Jagdish works as swiggy delivery executive .
The duo was staying in varthur while their associate Prakash was working as security guard in yelahanka new town 2 years ago.
He ran away to Nepal after a house break theft case against him in Yelahanka and another case registered in Maratahalli police station and returned to the city recently .
Apil Shahi,was involved in house break theft in Whitefield police station in 2017 and was not arrested until he was caught by Jayanagar police.
Soon after committing the house break the all accused had fled to Hyderabad,then Mumbai and Gujarat from there the couple separated in Vapi railway station.
The trio returned back to Varthur thinking that police will not get doubt if they come back and work normally from where they were arrested .
Efforts are on to track down the couple who said to have fled to their native .
City police commissioner,B.Dayananda,advised the people to be careful while employees helps from outside the state and get their background checks.
Appreciating the good piece of investigation,Mr. Dayananda appreciated Addl CP West Satheesh Kumar,DCP South,Lokesh Bharmappa Jagalsar,ACP,Narayanswamy V,PI,Deepak R and his whole team and announced cash reward for Jayanagar police.
