Ahead of new year,Bengaluru police crack down on drug peddlers in city and seizure operations across the black spots in city

In order to ensure peaceful celebration of New Year and ensure law and order,the city police launched a special drive against drug menace and carried out intensive search and seizure operations across the black spots in the city.

As part of the plan,several teams of police carried surprise checks at the house of 380 habitual offenders and checked 1633 bars and restaurants over 1020 lodges.

During this time,the police seized 1.1 kilos of Marijuana worth Rs.40,000 and arrested three persons from whom the drugs were seized.The police during the search of lodges rescued Six Foreign women who were forced into prostitution.

Continuing the crackdown the police have checked 411 Foreign nationals out of which 29 of them were Foreign nationals overstaying and have been handed over to FRRO for deportation process.

As part of 874 police officials have carried awareness program at 460 colleges,302 hostels and covered 61,398 students to advised them about the drug abuse and cyber crime and women safety .

The police sought cooperation from the students and asked them to share information whenever they come across about drug peddling.

The police have also crack down on begging on streets and booked as many as 12 women and rescued 16 minor children who were used in begging.

The detained women and children were handed over to state home boy women for rehabilitation,City police commissioner,B.Dayananda,said .
