ormer Assistant Administrative officer and a Second Division Assistant attached to City Armed Reserve (CAR) are in the dock for pocketing Rs.59 lakh amount from the department’s account .
Based on the complaint filed by the newly appointed,D Rajalakshmi,the Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO), the CCB charged Prashanth DS,who was a Second Division Assistant (SDA),and Saroja B Bijapura,who retired as the AAO in May this year under cheating and criminal breach of trust for further investiigation.
The incident came to light after Ms.Rajalakshmi after assuming the charges checked the records and found large scale irregularities .
According to her the Misappropriation occurred between 2020 and 2023,a discrepancy of Rs.59,80,839 in lent guard charges was found.
It was further found that there were some unofficial transactions in the Canara Bank account .
The accused Prashanth who was transferred in 2021 hadn’t handed over the files to his successor.
“Despite this,no disciplinary action was taken from the then AAO Saroja B Bijapura,”the complainant alleged. “No proper response was also given when asked about the lapsed.”
Rajalakshmi alleged that the duo in collusion committed a breach of trust and cheated the government of Rs. 59.80 lakh.
