Tumakuru district session court sentenced man to life imprisonment for hacking his younger brother to death & attempt to kill his septuagenarian father

The Tumakuru district session court on Friday convicted a 33-year-old farmer and sentenced him with life term imprisonment for hacking his younger brother to death and attempt to kill his 70-year-old father over domestic row at his house in Hosakere in May 2021.

The convict Mohan according to the police is the third son among the five children to Mallappa,70,a farmer .

Mohan was married but separated following a frequent fight with his wife,who had filed a domestic violence case against the family .

Upset with this Mohan used to fight with his parents blaming them for the mess.The younger brother Umesh, 26 used to defend his parents and fight with Mohan.

Enraged by this Mohan attacked Umesh with a chopper and killed him on the spot while he was sleeping at house on May 2,2021.

Hearing the commotion Mallappa came to the rescue but Mohan tried to strangle him in a bid to hang him to make it like suicide .

Wife and other the younger daughter living in the house had gone to meet the relatives at the time of the incident,while his two elder daughters are married and living in separate houses

Mallappa managed to escape and ran out of the house and cried out for help.By the time neighbours came to his rescue,Mohan escaped leaving Umesh dead in a pool of blood.

The Chelur police based on the information rushed to the spot and registered a case of murder and attempt to murder case against Mohan based on the statement of Mallappa.

The police later track down Mohan,arrested him and filed a charge-sheet before the court.
