Second Division Assistant of a government high school was killed and four other injured when a speeding car driven by drunk driver knocked them down in Kempegowdana Doddi in Ramanagara on Wednesday.
The deceased H Roopa,Koppa village of Maddur district was travelling in an autorickshaw along with four others .
The accused driver identified as Praveen in an inebriated state driving his car in rash and negligent manner crashed into a bus and later into the autorickshaw.Due to the impact the autorickshaw crashed into a roadside shop and toppled .
The accused in a bid to escape knock down two more two wheelers and crashed into another grocery shop.
Agitated passers-by chased the car pulled him out of the car and thrashed black and blue before handing him over to the police.
The injured were rushed to a near-by hospital where the doctor declared Roopa as brought dead.
The Ramanagara traffic police arrested Praveen on the charges of drunk driving,death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving for further investigations.
Traffic was disrupted for sometime and the police used crane to pull the damaged vehicles to clear the traffic .
