Thoothukudi special tehsildar Thomas Pius Arul, and his wife, G Aruna Pius, allegedly promised Rs 2 lakh to three men from Bengaluru to abduct the baby.A special team was formed, under the leadership of ACP Kengerigate,S. Manjunath,who retrieved the CCTV footage and identified the culprits.
The next day the police team traced the culprits to Omalur in Salem district in Tamil Nadu and arrested the five including a couple.The police then learnt that Anbu had sold the baby girl to the couple and they were taking the infant to their hometown in Toothukudi.
The police have also seized a Tata Sumo and a motorcycle which were used for the crime.
The west division police of jnanabharathi police have arrested five members including a couple on charges of kidnapping.
The special team have arrested the special tehsildar of Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu and his wife for allegedly paying three men in Bengaluru to kidnap an 11 month old girl.
The five accused has been identified as,Anbu Kumar (43), a resident of Jnanajyothinagar in Mallathahalli, Manjunath (19) and D. Yogesh Kumar (21), both residents of K.P. Agrahara and Special tahsildar T. Thomas and his wife G. Aruna Pius (45), the police said.The police are yet to arrest some others involved in the case.
Senior officer,told media persons that a complaint was registered in Jnanabharathi police station limits by the victim mother priya rani who stated in her complaint that when she was shifting her rented house her toddler child a 11 month year old baby was sleeping and after sometime when she went and saw the baby was missing based on the complaint a special team was formed by ACP,S.Manjunath of Kengerigate sub division under the supervision of Inspector Shivareddy a special team swung into action, and when the inspector Shivareddy of jnanabharathi police station asked the mother that do you have doubt on anyone then she said recently she had a fight with neighbour and based on her information the cops called the neighbour to station to enquire and during questioning him the cops got a vital clues the neighbor said to cops that the person who used to come regularly to their house has only took the child in his bike and based on his statement the cops then picked Anbu kumar and the cops grilled him where he spilled the beans that he has handed over the child to his friend Thomas who has took the child to Tamilnadu based on his statement the cops were on lookout for Thomas and then special team checked the CCTV footages in which they got a concrete evidence as vehicle number of the cab and with this the inspector and his team identified the culprits and then they contacted the travels owner and asked them to give the number of the driver they dint believe the cops only then the cops sent their ID proof on his Whatsapp and after verifying the owner gave the number of driver with this the team contacted the driver and got information that they are moving towards Tamilnadu and the cops asked him to drive the vehicle slowly so they can reach and even said him not to tell the person who are in the cab and if they ask tell your owner has called you and the cops where in constant touch with the driver and suddenly the couple travelling as accused got doubt and they started questioning him than our team gave him a idea to tell them that he is getting sleep and wanted to stop the vehicle for sometime to have tea till then we will reach there by that time the couple got doubt and started quarrelling with the driver and asked him to drive fast then he again started to drive and our team instructed him to take the vehicle near by police station till then we will intimate them that you are helping us so they will detain the couple till we come as the driver reached to Omalur police station our team also reached the spot and zeroed in the couple and rescued the toddler as 11 month old child safely and the couple were detained and brought to Bengaluru during interrogation the accused confessed the crime and revealed that Anbu Kumar, a local businessman,was acquainted with Arul who asked him to get him a child. Arul told Anbu that he had no children and wanted to adopt one.Anbu promised to help the couple.He roped in his associates Manjunath and Yogesh.The trio zeroed in on a labourer couple who had an 11-month-old baby girl.They allegedly approached the parents asking if they were willing give the baby for adoption.When the couple refused, the trio allegedly decided to kidnap the child they said in their statement and based on their statement we have arrested all the five accused including couple and rescued the child safely and reunited to their parents he added.
Priya Rani,Victim mother told media persons that,We told him the accused that we needed a person’s help and a vehicle to shift the house he said he would and showed up.My child was sleeping inside I wasn’t there two men came inside the house and took the baby with them and left on a bike she added.
Muniraju,victims neighbour told media persons that,Two men came in to the victims house and left with the child we don’t who they were the perpetrators were known to the victims the parents had asked for help of the accused for shifting house and that’s when the incident took place he added.
Ravi.D.Channanavar,DCP West,told media persons that,A special team led by Jnanabharathi Police Station Inspector V Shivareddy chased down the abductors at Salem, just 190 km away from Bengaluru in neighbouring Tamil Nadu.Based on the interrogation, police uncovered the kidnapping plot and arrested him along with the two of his associates.The baby was with the couple in a taxi in Salem, based on Anbu’s information.we have also recovered the amount that Anbu was paid for the kidnapping by Thomas.He had told Thomas to come to Bengaluru.Thomas and his wife came by train on Tuesday and stayed in a lodge. Anbu gave them the baby on Wednesday night and sent them home in a cab after collecting Rs 2 lakh.Kidnapper was parents friend.The driver of the cab,the accused kidnapped the baby in was most helpful in solving the case.According to the information given by him,we waylaid the vehicle in Tamilnadu’s Omalur police Station near Salem we have arrested the accused and seized the vehicle some equipments and Rs.2 Lakh in cash.we have arrested all the five accused including couple identifed as,Anbu kumar,T.Thomas Pious,J.Aruna Pious,Manjunath and D.Yogesh Kumar are those arrested,Anbu kumar, Manjunath,and Yogesh were known to the complainants and had even asked the parents to give away their child the mother has refused the offer couple Aruna and Thomas from Tamilnadu’s Thoothukudi had paid up Rs.2 lakhs to the other accused for the baby and we suspect there is a possibility of others involved in the case a case has been registered in Jnanabharathi police station and further investigation is on and finally Bengaluru Police commissioner,T.Suneel Kumar,has appreciated,Addl CP West,B.K.Singh,DCP West,Ravi.D.Channanavar,ACP, Kengerigate Sub-Division,S.Manjunath,PI,
