In a freak incident, two people died after they allegedly fell down from the second floor of a #BEiR pub in suspected ‘inebriated’ condition.
They were climbing down the stairs around midnight on Friday when they slipped and fell to the ground through a open window at the end of the stairs on the second floor of the pub on Church Street, police said.
According to Senior officer, the two in their 30s,were both married and were in depression as boths marriage life was not happy so they came to the #BEiR pub to spend time.It is alleged after their marriage life broken and were not happy so both were in relationship and to spend time they came to pub and after finishing the party and having dinner they were about to leave to their respective house but as they were stepping down from a second floor at the end of the floor Veda tripped and Pavan tried to hold her but the both lost balance and fell from a open window which was fully opened which ended in a mishap.
The deceased has been identified as Pavan Attavar,36, marketing head at a media house,and Veda R Yadav, 28, a private company employee.Cubbon Park police have taken up a case and have booked the building owner,licence holder, Abhishek and the pub manager,Mani,for their negligence.
Incidentally,Police Commissioner Alok Kumar after taking charge as Bengaluru city police commissioner was on Surveillance rounds in the area to ensure implementation of a directive of the Karnataka High Court on identifying noisy pubs at nights and taking action against them, police said.
As Alok Kumar,Commissioner of Police with Addl CPs as,Umesh and Seemanth Kumar Singh,DCP,Central R.Devaraj with other officers who was on night rounds to inspect the pubs and bar whether they are following the directions by High court or not at around 11:30 pm they reached to Church Street as he had stooped out of the Car he heard a thud sound as soon as he noticed two people felling from a second floor the police team present at the spot immediately rushed to the victims and shifted them to the bowring hospital where the two were declared brought dead the Cubbon Park police have handed over their bodies to their family members after postmortem.
CCTV footage shows the incident took place at around 11:30pm on Friday while the two were after finishing their dinner and drinks were coming down,in the footage Veda,is seemed to have be in a Ineberiated state was seen coming down taking Pavan’s help she was seen holding her as they came down.Veda tripped and Pavan tried to hold her but the two lost balance and fell of the open window on the second floor of the #BEiR pub they both fell on the first floor portico and then crashed on the floor .
A case has been registered at Cubbon Park police station.The police have stated that the window that the two fell out of was made with sub-standard material in order to save costs and thus was not sturdy enough to withstand the weight of the two people.There were no grill and the window was covered with fibre blind.The duo might have lost balance while walking down and crashed into the fibre blind and slipped through the window crashing down,” a police officer said.
A case has been registered in cubbon park police station against the owner of the building,the owner of the club and the manager of the pub have been booked under Section 304A of the Indian Penal Code (Causing death by negligence)and investigations is on.
