NEW DELHI, August 4—Thousands of Congress workers and leaders participated in the prayer-meeting held to pay homage to Smt. Sheila Dikshit, former Chief Minister of Delhi and President, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, here today. The presence of thousands of people at the prayer-meeting once again proved Smt. Sheila Dikshit’s popularity among the people of Delhi, cutting across  political divide and other factors. The presence of a large number of people was an acknowledgement of her place in the hearts of the people of Delhi, and the void created by Smt. Sheila Dikshit’s demise can never be filled. The large meeting hall on the ground floor of Rajiv Bhawan was named after Smt. Sheila Dikshit.

Prominent among those present to pay     homage to Smt. Sheila Dikshit by lighting lamp were former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and his wife Smt. Gurcharan Kaur, Congress Working Committee members Shri A.K.Antony, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad and Shri Pramod Tiwari, AICC secretary Shri Kuljit Singh Nagra, DPCC Working Presidents Shri Haroon Yusuf, Shri Devender Yadav and Shri Rajesh Lilothia. Other leaders present were former DPCC presidents Shri Subhash Chopra, Shri Jai Prakash Agarwal, Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely  and Shri Ajay Maken, Shri Jagdish Tytler, Shri Mahabal Mishra, Shri Ramesh Kumar, Shri J.K.Jain, Ch. Tarif Singh, Shri Udit Raj, Smt. Krishna Tirath, former Delhi Ministers Shri Mangat Ram Singhal, Shri Ramakant Goswami, Dr A.K.Walia,  Dr Kiran Walia,  Dr Narendra Nath, spokespersons Shri Jitender Kumar Kochar (Jitu),  Shri Rohit Manchanda and Shri Harnam Singh, Mahila Congress president Ms. Sharmistha Mukherjee, Shri Mukesh Sharma, Shri Vijay Mohan, ex-MLAs, Municipal Councillors, District Presidents, Seva Dal president Sunil Kumar and members of all frontal organizations of the party.

At the prayer-meeting function, a brief film on Smt. Sheila Dikshit’s life was screened. Famous Dhrupad singer Padma Shri Wasifuddin Dagar and team sang devotional songs to heighten the piety of the occasion.

At the end of the function, Smt. Sheila Dikshit’s son and former Member of Parliament from East Delhi Shri Sandeep Dikshit, her daughter Ms. Latika and sister Smt. Rama Dhawan thanked all those present for attending the function.
