Delhi-based NGO, Wishes and Blessings celebrated the serving of its 10th Lakh meal yesterday at the Modi Mills Day Care Centre. The NGO’s Daily Meals Programme was initiated in 2015 to provide three nutritious meals daily to the homeless and underprivileged in Delhi NCR. Started with only 60 beneficiaries in December 2015, the programme has over 550 beneficiaries surpassing barriers of age, caste and gender.

Wishes and Blessings believes that an empty stomach is a devil’s playground. People resort to begging stealing and other crimes, in order to meet their hunger. The NGO aims to eradicate this problem by providing wholesome meals to lesser privileged people. When asked about the journey, Founder and President Dr. Geetanjali Chopra said, “10 lakh meals may seem like a small number, but for all of us at Wishes and Blessings it is indeed a big milestone. When I initiated the programme in December 2015, I could never have imagined that we would reach this number so quickly. But of course, this is a small step towards eradicating hunger and malnutrition amongst the underprivileged, and I look forward to making many more steps towards ensuring that no underprivileged person goes to sleep on an empty stomach.”

The grand occasion comprises remarkable performances by the street children supported by the organization. The Chief Guest Sh. Narendra Kumar (Election Commissioner, UTs) and Guest of Honor Sh. B.K. Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police & Mandira Lamba from YFLO were present on the occasion. Besides, many Government officials, corporates, and HNIs marked their presence and appreciated the efforts of the organization.
