Police constable arrested by CCB for aiding and abetting drug peddlers.

In its war against drugs,Bengaluru CCB police on Friday arrested a head constable attached to the Sadashivanagar police station for allegedly helping three persons accused of involvement in a drug racket.

A police constable attached to Sadashivanagar police station has been arrested for aiding and abetting drug peddlers,police said on Friday.

According to police,constable Prabhakar, who was working in Sadashivanagar police station and is said to be a cyber crime expert was arrested by the Central Crime Branch police of Bengaluru.He is charged with colluding with drug racket accused.

He had been allegedly helping Suneesh and Hemant,who were arrested in Goa in connection with drug peddling.

Along with Suneesh and Hemant,former Congress minister Rudrappa Lamani’s son, Darshan Lamani was also arrested recently.

Head Constable (HC) Prabhakar,working in Sadashivanagar police station,is arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for abetting and helping the accused Suneesh,Hemanth, and others,Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil said in a statement on Friday.

The CCB had earlier stated that Prabhakar’s role came to light after three people, including Congress Dalit leader and former minister Rudrappa Lamani’s son Darshan Lamani,were interrogated in connection with the drug case in Goa on November 9.

He was suspended on November 13th after the probe revealed he was in touch with the accused who were on the run, helping them evade arrest.

The CCB had recently arrested three men Darshan Lamani,son of former minister Rudrappa Lamani, and two of his associates Suneesh and Hemanth from Goa for allegedly procuring narcotics over the dark net.

Their investigation had revealed that Prabhakar had been in constant touch with the accused updating them on the movement of CCB teams tracking them.The probe revealed that he was paid for this information.

This is the third high profile arrest in the last two weeks in this case.The CCB police arresting Darshan Lamani on November 9 from Goa was the first high-profile arrest in this case.

The Bengaluru police had also suspended ACP M.R.Mudavi and Head Constable Mallikarjun who were with the CCB after it came to the CCB officers’ notice that these two were instrumental in leaking information to high profile accused arrested in the Sandalwood drugs case

Sources say another police personnel, whose identity the CCB is yet to reveal,is also under the scanner.
