“BHARATIYAM” is an initiative of like-minded individuals with a singular objective to make a positive impact on the environment and the society at large. It has been successful in the last few years in creating awareness towards responsible environmental behaviour through a novel and engaging process of art and culture infused activities. It has been found by Mr. K.J.Rao, former Secretary Election Commission along with Mr. Srinivas Kotni and Mr. Anil Gupta, who is its Co-Founder & Secretary who is the man at the centre of it all.
What was the need for the event
The biggest sufferers of this pandemic have been the children who have lost both their parents at a tender age due to Covid-19. Although, there are government schemes under which support is available to such children; but the children need much more in terms of love, affection and care. Bhartiyam wishes to fill the void created in their lives, by setting up its own infrastructure for a long term sustainable development and growth of such children.
Journey so far
Bharityam is privileged to be surrounded with philanthropists, who are committed to make the event a great success, by donating and making an impact in the lives of covid impacted children. We gracefully accept magnanimity of Shri. Ramesh Gupta, Managing Director of Beetal Financial & Computer Services Limited, who generously contributed Rupees Twenty One (21) Lakhs towards the cause, besides supporting with his thoughts, ideas and connectivity. Who could understand the pain of orphans better than Ramesh ji, who himself lost his parents at a very early age. A self made highly successful entrepreneur who went through hardships in his childhood; carries a concern in his heart for orphans and committed to something in a humble way. His contribution also reflects his confidence on Bhartiyam team, its commitment, integrity and selfless work approach.
Mr Srinivas Kotni, a corporate lawyer, Managing Partner of Lexport (a full service law firm), and the Founder and Patron of Bharatiyam, has generously contributed Rupees Eleven Lakhs (11) towards the cause; besides spearheading the initiative. He is a classic example of leading from the front and selfless service with ‘Tan, Man, Dhan’.
We are also pleased to announce that the online concert held on 27th June (Sunday) from 6.30 PM to 8 PM was a great success, which had seen more than 5000 tickets being sold and majority of the people attending the event. Therefore thousands of tickets were sold, hundreds of items are still getting sold in the auction and a considerable amount could be raised as contribution / donation from people coming from different walks of life who contributed very generously for the fund raiser. So far an amount of approximately INR 1 Crore has been raised by Bharatiyam for this cause.
The event had seen rendition of soothing and heart touching Ghazals by the famous Dr. Radhika Chopra, Hindustani Classical vocal rendition by Pt. Bholanath Misra (disciple of Pt. Rajan and Sajan Misra) and melodious Indian Slide Guitar performance by Pt. Deepak Kshirsagar. The audience highly appreciated the performances.
The fund raiser auction is still going on and would be closed around 8 p.m. on 28th June 2021. Many people have contributed their most cherished possessions including luxury items, jewellary, art etc., the proceeds of which would also be applied towards the cause.
Our Plans
We shall utilize proceeds of the event in two ways – partly towards immediate relief to covid affected children and significant portion towards setting up an integrated facility for upliftment and development of such children. The proceeds will be deployed in a transparent manner by a team of selfless, committed and successful persons in their respective walks of life. A committee comprising of such persons has been created to maintain highest standards of ethics and transparency; which could withstand any external audit.
