Officials of Anti Corruption Bureau on Wednesday arrested Assistant Directory of land records along with his Assistant for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from a land owner for an official favour of surveying his land .
The land owner from Nagadasapura had approached Anand Kumar to get his land surveyed based on the High Court direction,for which the accused officer Anand Kumar at his office in Yelahanka had demanded Rs 70 lakh bribe and taken Rs 20 lakh in advance.
Unable to pay the remaining amount,the land owner approached the ACB and filed a complaint .
Based on the complaint the ACB registered a case under Prevention of Corruption act and raided the house of Anand Kumar and Ramesh,a contract employee and recovered cash Rs 25.3 lakh and bank cheques worth rs 70 lakh and other important documents from their house.
The officials also searched the houses of Kusuma Latha,senior officer of land records and Srinivas Achar,surveyor for their possible involvement.The ACB officials arrested Anand Kumar and Ramesh for further investigation.
