Officials of the Criminal investigation Department on Wednesday arrested the Police Sub Inspector, of Goonibeedu station in Chikmagaluru for torturing a youth in the lock up and forcing him to drink urine on May 10 this year.
The accused officer has been identified as,Arjun Honakere summoned Puneeth KL from Mudigere for questioning in connection with a complaint of harassment against him.
Arjun tortured Puneeth in the lock up and even forced a man who was in the lock up with a theft charges,to urinate on Puneeth face when the latter was exhausted due to the torture and asked for water.
When Puneeth spat on the floor when he urinated on the face,Arjun even forced Puneeth to lick the urine from the floor.
After being released,Puneeth complained about the torture and humiliation with the senior police officials in May 22 following which a complaint has been filed against him under SC/ST prevention of atrocities Act .
Following a complaint Arjun was suspended and a case was handed over to the CID.
Meanwhile Arjun fearing arrest escaped and filed an anticipatory bail which was rejected by the high court.
On Wednesday, the CID officials arrested Arjun and produced him before the court in Chikmagalur which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
