Shahapur Police arrested four persons for assaulting woman making her undress in Yadgir.
The accused has been identified as,Lingaraj Bevinahalli,(24),Sharnappa Naykodi,(22), Bhimaraya Doranhalli,(28),and Ayyappa Natekar (23), all natives of Shahapur.
Yadgir district police have arrested four men after a video of a woman being stripped began doing the rounds on social media.
Yadgir superintendent of police Vedamurthy, in a video statement released on Monday, said the four arrested a day ago have said the incident took place one and a half years ago.
Police said in the video,the suspects could be seen stripping,sexually abusing and assaulting the woman with sugarcane sticks.
The suspects were also allegedly heard telling the woman that no one is coming to her rescue and also speak about some money they lost.
The miscreants used the mobile torchlight and vehicle’s headlight since the video was shot at night.
The video also showed the miscreants clicking selfies with the victim during the assault.Yadgir Superintendent of Police, C.B.Vedamurthy told reporters,on Monday morning that police arrested four accused for allegedly assaulting and abusing a woman.
In a shocking incident that was filmed by one among the accused in which an undressed woman was continuously assaulting with a lathi and hands by using abusive words despite her request with folded hands to live her.
According to SP, the incident might have occured at the outskirt of Shahapur,8-9 month back. Initially,in the morning hours,Dr.Vedamurthy saying that the victim is unknown and police held two and searching another two involved in the incident.
Later,minutes,he further stated that all four accused were arrested and investigating is on.
Later Dr Vedamurthy told that woman was identified and a complaint is going to be registered immediately.
The incident has created a sensation after majority of News channels aired the news based on the video and news published in daily newspapers.
In a 2 minutes and 34 seconds video which has gone viral shows the brutality of the culprits while hitting woman and brushing her parts.The voice of culprits unclear.
Senior officer said,Dr.Vedamurthy and Deputy Commissioner R.Ragapriya rushed to the spot and also the police station soon after information on the incident came out.
Dr.Ragapriya met the victim and assured her of justice.The police have drawn up mahazar
after taking the four accused to the spot where the incident is said to have occurred.
The Superintendent of Police later told the media that all protection was provided to the victim.The district administration and the Social Welfare Department handed over a Rs.50,000 cheque. Also, Rs.25,000 compensation was given to the victim by the Woman and Child Development Department.
He made it clear that there was no previous case registered against the accused and the arrests were made related to the particular incident he added.
