Bengaluru Traffic Police resumes drive to check drunk driving,44 person booked in 3 hours special drive

Following a series of fatal road accidents killing more than ten persons,city traffic police relaunched a special drive and caught as many as 44 persons driving drunk within three hours of the drive across the city on Friday.

The drive which was suspended considering covid guidelines as precautionary measures,has been re-launched as more people are getting killed in the accident.The cause of these accidents is suspected to be rash and negligent and drunk driving ,Dr.BR Ravikanthe Gowda,Joint Commissioner of Police,told media persons.

Though FSL reports of these cases are yet to confirm the cause of the accident,we have decided to crack the whip on the erring drivers and enforce road safety and discipline among the motorists,Mr.Gowda, said .

During the drive the suspected drivers have been sent to the nearest hospital for a blood report,and after confirmation,they have been booked under DD case,and slapped a notice and seized their vehicle and Driving Licenses.The seized DL will be sent to the RTO concerned with a recommendation to suspend.

Apart from the 44 DD cases,the traffic police have also registered over 1400 cases of various violations by the motorists during the drive.

Two cases of wheeling have also been booked by RT Nagar police where the two bikers were caught doing bike stunts on the busy Bellary road .

DCP Traffic West,Kuldeep Kumar R Jain,said in his tweet,Special drives are conducted across Traffic west Division to check on reckless and rash driving and If someone found under influence of alcohol will be taken to hospital for further examination. In last 3 days,in special drives following no.of cases booked in Traffic West Division.
1.Against One Way > 400 cases.
2. Rash & Negligent driving > 100 cases.
3. Lane discipline > 200 cases.
4. Over speeding > 170 cases.
