In a joint operation by Southern Command Military Intelligence and Central Crime Branch officials caught suspect named Jitender Singh from Jolly Mohalla in Cottonpet for taking photos of vital installations,defence establishments and shared with foreign agencies.
The suspect accused has been identified as Jitendra Singh who was residing at Jolly mohalla in cottonpet.
Senior officer,told media persons that,“On information of military intelligence, CCB traced and arrested one accused who took photos of vital installations, defence establishments and shared them with foreign agencies,” Joint Commissioner of Police (CCB) Sandeep Patil said in a statement.
The accused was working as a garment seller in Bengaluru.
It is alleged that the accused befriended a Pakistani agent on Facebook as the girl lured the accused by sending friend request seeing a army uniform in the profile pic and befriended him.
Which turned into friendship and both exchanged their photographs and started passing the information to her by seeing her beauty but a meticulous investigation conducted jointly by southern Commando and CCB officials tracked him and arrested him.
He was in communication with Pakistan based ISI officer over Whatsapp messages,Whatsapp audio and video calls.
He had shared photos and details of the Army area and carried out reconnaissance of Army posts near international border at the behest of ISI officer.
He was also in possession of a Captain’s uniform with which he use to impersonate as an Army officer to carry out these tasks.
He suspected to have provided photographs of Barmer military station and reported all military vehicles movement from that area to that ISI officer.
Bengaluru being the IT capital of the country also houses vital and important defence and scientific installations. Heavy security cover is provided to all installations, the threat from anti-national forces.
The police have registered a case under the Officials Secrets Act and IPC sections.Later in the evening CCB officials produced the accused before magistrate and the court sent him to CCB police custody for 12 days and further investigations are on.
