Bengaluru:Protester runs SUV over DCP’s foot, detained by RMC Yard police

DCP on protest duty escapes narrowly as vehicle runs over him.In an shocking incident that shocked the police force,Dharmender Kumar Meena,DCP of Bengaluru North,narrowly escaped while on protest duty on Monday when a vehicle ran over him in Goraguntepalya.

The policemen present on the spot were also taken by surprise by the incident. The police said at present Mr.Meena is fine and the injury is not serious.

As the news of DCP got a foot injury,while controlling the protest on duty immediately Bengaluru city police commissioner,Kamal Pant and Addl CP West, Soumendhu Mukherjee who was on city rounds to supervise the bandh preparation and to take stock of the bandh in the city.

He immediately rushed to Goraguntepalya to see Dharmender Kumar Meena and enquired about his health and later he spoke with farmer’s unions to pacify to end their protest.

The person driving the car has been detained by the RMC Yard police.He has been identified as Harish Gowda,said to be a member of a pro Kannada organisation.The workers of the organisation are also taking part in support of the bandh,senior officer said.

Later in the evening DCP,Meena said,I am fine and Doctor said due to Pain and swelling is due to muscle and soft tissue injury.Fortunately,no fracture finally he thanked all his friends and well wishers who prayed for his speedy recovery.
