The RT Nagar police on Tuesday arrested a couple involved in six house break thefts and recovered 193 grams of gold valuables worth Rs 8.5 lakh from them.
The accused has been identified as Market Babu, 33 and his wife,Jayanthi, 30,while Jayanthi is home maker,and Babu,a labourer by profession also part of a city based NGO,and living in a rented house in Kaval Byrasandra.
Senior officer told reporters,a house break theft was reported on 16th September by a private firm employee who said in her complaint that she had locked the door of her house in apartment in Manjunathnagar in RT Nagar and kept the keys near the window before going to work.
When she returned back in the evening she noticed some one has entered her house and has ransacked the house and escaped after taking a booty of gold ornaments from her cupboard were missing.
Based on the complaint,the RT Nagar police police took up the case and swung into action the team led by ACP,JC Nagar Sub-Division, Smt.Reena Suvarna,PI,Ashwath Gowda formed a special team to nab the culprits.
A team headed by PSI,Yellamma and WPC,Jayashree and other crime staff visited the crime spot and after inspecting the spot the team pressed FSL team into action.
During inspecting the area the FSL team recovered finger prints from the scene of crime and also verified the CCTV footage and after getting a concrete evidence.
THe fingerprints matched with the housebreak theft case reported in Malleshwaram in 2019, where Babu was arrested and jailed.
Based on the inputs the team traced down the couple near Vinayaka theatre in DJ Halli the police arrested the couple and took them into custody.
During investigation the couple confessed the crime and revealed that they would move around the city on the pretext of inquiring about houses for rents but their main intention is to identify the locked house .
Once the target is fixed Babu would venture into the house while Jayanthi would watch the movements outside the house and signal him if she finds any danger.
Using the MO,the accused had noticed Vijayalakshmi house after watching the movements from many days.
Few minutes later, Babu took the keys and gained entry by opening the front door and made away with the gold valuables .
With the arrest of the couple,we managed to detect as many as six house break thefts reported in and around the city and stolen valuables worth Rs.8.5 lakhs recovered.
