The Northeast division police of Yelahanka Upanagar police have busted a fake Property paper forging racket and arrested a gang of eight including two rowdy-sheeters and a woman who are forging the property papers of sites in and around the city owned by NRIs and sell it to the gullible customers.
The accused have been identified as Pradeep,28, from Yelahanka,Dharmalingam,48,of
chikkabommasandra,Manjunath,43,from Yelahanka,Abdul,41,YR Manjunath,51,and Abdul Ghani,67,from Bhadrappa layout,Shabana Banu, from Shampura and Auto Rama,43 from Huliyuru Durga.
Senior officer told reporters,a complaint was registered by a victim in Yelahanka Upanagar police station stating that a group of persons are indulged in selling sites by forging site papers belonging to NRIs across city.
Based on complaint a special team was formed by DCP Northeast Dr Anoop A Shetty under the leadership of ACP,Manoj Kumar M E,a team headed by PI,Anand Nayak CE and his crime team swung into action and collected all the information from the victim.
Based on intelligence inputs and technical inputs the team zeroed in on eight persons including woman and two rowdy sheeter.
The team took them into custody and during investigation the accused confessed the crime and a detailed investigation by the team it was revealed.
He further said,The cheating came to light when the accused had created fake records of 2400 square feet site situated at Chikkabommasandra in Yelahakna new town belonging to Dr. Prashanth Reddy,an NRI to register in one of their associates name,so that they could sell it to the customers.
Meanwhile Mr. Reddy father of Jayapratap Reddy, residing in the same area came to know about the fraudulent activities and confronted them.
The accused even threatened him with dire consequences warning him to stay away or face dire consequences .
Among the accused Pradeep and Auto Rama are rowdies and running the racket,Dr Anoop A Shetty, DCP,Northeast division,said.
The accused would move around the city to identify sites and land belonging to NRIs and create fake GPA and sale deed with old dates of stamp papers along with fake seals and signature of sub registrar to sell it to the gullible customers .
After selling the sites the accused would share the money according to the roles the accused had played in each cases.
The police have recovered 2130 fake stamp papers,17 fake seals of sub registrar office,type writer and other materials from the accused .
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused using the modus operandi sold many sites worth Rs.8 crores in and around the city.
The accused have been booked under forgery and cheating and remanded to judicial custody.
