Special Commissioner’s (Health) meeting on tackling Covid 19 within BBMP limits

In view of the rising Covid 19 numbers in some of the states in India and marginal increase of cases over the past week in Bengaluru.

Special Commissioner Health,BBMP held meetings today (29.04.22) with the representatives from Private Hospital And Nursing Homes Association (PHANA), and many leading private hospitals, Resident Welfare Associations,Traders Unions, Malls,Hotels,Cinema Halls and other commercial establishments.

For the Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes it was instructed:

1. Test all ILI/SARI cases in the OPDs and in-patients for Covid 19.

2. Upload all testing details on ICMR portal with complete information.It was instructed to send all positives with CT less than 30 to be sent for genomic sequencing.

3. Reserving private hospital beds was discussed, and it was reiterated that the earlier order from GoK mandating 10% reservation still stands relevant, and hospitals may keep the same in the state of readiness.

4. Real time bed availability portal for private hospital beds to be activated immediately.

For Cinema Halls,Malls,Restaurants,Hotels, Traders Unions and other commercial establishments, it was instructed:

1. It is important to ensure Covid appropriate behaviour (CAB) in commercial places such as hotels, malls, shops, cinema halls etc.

2. To strictly enforce double dose vaccination for entry into Cinema Halls,Malls,Restaurants, Hotels.

3. To strictly enforce wearing of masks and social distancing, and temperature checks at entry points.

4. Frequent testing and vaccination of all staff to be ensured.

5. To be more vigilant with visitors from regions of high case load, especially international travellers.

6. Marshalls shall patrol business area with high foot fall and awareness initiatives shall be conducted.

For Resident Welfare Associations, it was instructed:

1. Cooperation for increased surveillance activities was sought.

2. Awareness initiatives shall be conducted at the RWA level, regarding precautionary dose coverage and paediatric vaccination.

3. Camps shall also be organised at RWAs to ensure 100% coverage across all age groups.

4. Sewage samples shall be collected for genomic surveillance from large apartment complexes.

5. Revised Advisory for RWA shall be released shortly as per the prevailing GoI and GoK and share accordingly.

6. No spitting campaign and Mask up campaign re-initiation was proposed by NGO partners.

7. All primary contacts shall be tested.
