International level telephone exchange racket busted,Six among two gangs arrested for running telephone exchange illegally by EOW CCB police

The Economic Offence wing officials of  CCB with the help of telecom department officials busted another international telephone exchange and arrested six persons who were running the racket .

The accused are Ravichandra,Subair, Manu MM, Ismail Abdulla,Jouhar Shareef and Shahir. Except for Ravichandra,all five others are from Kerala. All of them resided in Mahadevapura, and Chikkasandra near Hesaraghatta.

The racket came to light when the telecom officials are probing a threat call to a Puttur based man from an unidentified person from a foreign country using a local number.

K N Subba Reddy Asistant Divisional Engineer, telecom,the CCB officials swung into action and raided Icon tours and Travels,firm situated in Mahadevapura and arrested six persons running the racket .

According to the police, the accused are from Kerala and operating the racket in five different places including the tours and travel agency in Mahadevapura.

The accused would avail the internet service from leading private telecom company which would offer faster services for the call centers,purchased 180 landline devices and used them to convert VOIP calls into local calls illegally using several devised .

The accused would get SIM cards from UP, MP, west Bengal and other parts of the country to install them at SIM box devise which could convert VOIP calls into local calls bypassing the security checks .

The accused rented a house in Chikkasandra on Hesaraghatta main road where they are operating the SIM box devise .

The police have seized 16 SIM box devises,2 trunk call devised,9 PRI ( primary rate interface) ,five laptops,2 desktops,9 mobile sets,6 routers and 25 BSNL SIM cards from them.

The accused have been booked under various section of IT act and Indian Telegraph act for further investigations.

CCB police will investigate to find out how and from whom the suspects got pre-activated sim cards in bulk. The officials will also look into the procedures followed by the communication service provider while giving SIP trunk call devices,” said police commissioner CH Pratap Reddy.
