President Kovind Inaugurates Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Of Rashtriya Military School In Bengaluru

three-day Platinum Jubilee Event to celebrate the historic occasion of Rashtriya Military School was inaugurated by Hon’ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind at Chanakya Auditorium of Rashtriya Military School,Bengaluru on 13 June 2022.

The event also had state guests,Thawar Chand Gehlot,Governor of Karnataka,Basavaraj Bommai, Chief Minister of Karnataka and many other senior dignitaries of the Centre,State and Armed Forces.

Speaking on the occasion,the President congratulated all cadets,teachers,alumni and staff members on the platinum jubilee of Rashtriya Military School,Bengaluru.

He said that since its establishment,the school has come a long way and is acknowledged as one of the finest boarding schools in the country.

He noted that at present,cadets from 23 states are receiving education in this school.

He said that from Jammu & Kashmir to Kerala, the cadets in this school represent our “Unity in Diversity”.

He expressed confidence that this inter-mingling has helped the cadets to learn and appreciate the culture,language, and traditions of their fellow cadets.

The President was happy to note that from this academic year onwards, girl cadets are going to get admissions into Rashtriya Military Schools across the country.

He said that our daughters are breaking many glass-ceilings and setting new records in various fields,making the country proud.

He said that as the Supreme Commander,he was happy to see the rising number of women in the armed forces,including in combat roles.

He expressed confidence that the girl cadets, joining this prestigious school,would contribute in defending the nation and play their role in nation building.

The President said that the school motto “Sheelam Param Bhushanam” or “Character is the highest virtue” should always be the guiding light for the cadets.

He expressed confidence that the school would continue to provide holistic education to the cadets and inculcate in them,Military ethos and discipline.

Vice Admiral Satish Namdeo Ghormade,the Vice Chief of Naval Staff also a former student of the school and one of the Guests of Honour,in his speech said that the school is not only imparting education but lays the foundation of strong character and ethos.

The Vice Chief of Naval Staff proudly mentioned that the school is among the top ten boarding schools of the nation.

While picturing the 75 year journey of the School, the Admiral listed some of the important alumini of the school from various fields including Gurbachan Singh Salaria,Param Vir Chakra Awardee and Rajendran Absolem Christie,Goal keeper of 1964 Summer Olympics Gold winning hockey team.

The Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the prestigious school also saw the presence of the First Batch students of the school Mr Jayapal (Cadet 36) and Mr Balakrishna (Cadet 39) from the year 1946.

Rashtriya Military School,Bangalore was raised on 01st Aug 1946 by King George VI as King George Royal Indian Military College.

The institution has journeyed 75 years in the Service of the Nation and is commemorating its Platinum Jubilee Year. It is a matter of pride that the Platinum Jubilee Celebration of the institution is during the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

The institution has witnessed constant growth, expansion,advancement and development in providing quality education,embedded with Military ethos,values and leadership with the motto ‘Sheelam Param Bhusanam”.
