engaluru Division became only the second Division to launch ‘Joint Parcel product’, in coordination with the Dept of posts.
Under this joint venture, first-mile and last-mile connectivity of the products will be provided by the Dept of Posts,while the consignment will be moved on rail by the Railways.
This venture will help customers send their parcels to the destination without having to come to the Railway Station,making it a revenue enhancing proposal of railways also.
A total of 44 packages of agarbattis weighing 1520 kgs was dispatched as the first consignment today by train No 18464 Prashanti Express,from KSR Bengaluru City to Bhubaneswar Jn.A total freight of Rs 7883/-was collected.
For the first-mile and last mile connectivity, Dept of posts will charge Rs 6/- per Kg.
