Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a key meeting at a time when the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raids on Popular Front of India (PFI) offices are continuing across the country. On Thursday, he held a high-level meeting with several key officials including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla and NIA Director General Dinakar Gupta. An official revealed that Amit Shah discussed the measures to be taken in the case of PFI activists and terror suspects in this meeting.
Will you ban it?
There are allegations that PFI is carrying out illegal activities in the name of training the youth. Today, NIA and ED jointly conducted raids on PFI offices and member’s houses, especially after allegations of funding for terrorist activities and spreading terrorist ideology. However, there are speculations that the Center may impose a ban on PFI after these attacks. It was in this order that Amit Shah held an emergency meeting.
Ongoing arrests..
These raids on PFI offices and members’ homes in 11 states across the country are ongoing. So far more than 100 activists and leaders have been arrested. Former PFI Treasurer Nadeem has been detained by the authorities in Uttar Pradesh. While 22 people were arrested in maximum in Kerala, 20 in Maharashtra, 20 in Karnataka, 10 in Tamil Nadu and 8 in Uttar Pradesh
