T he State government is committed to providing opportunity for the oppressed classes like the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe to live with dignity,equality,self-reliant and self-respect, declared Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Talking to reporters after garlanding the statue of Saint Valmiki on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti here on Sunday,he said they are celebrating the Jayanti of Maharshi Valmiki,a great humanist,a creator of Ramayana and a beacon for the whole world.
The decision to celebrate Valmiki Jayanto was taken at the State Cabinet meeting held in Kalaburagi when B.S.Yediyurappa was the chief minister and in which meeting,he,B.Sriramulu and Govind Karjol had participated.Since then this jayanti celebration has been celebrated in the most meaningful manner.
The government is formulating programs on the basis of ideology and preaching of the Maharshi to be inculcated by everyone in the society.
Bommai said the Ramayana written by Maharshi Valmiki has been considered one of the best ten great works in the world.
By creating it,the saint has given the essence of life and shown the way to lead a pious life. Every sequence in Ramayana is worth following.
As the chief minister,he would adopt the preaching and ideology of Maharshi Valmiki in administration,he added.
