J aggi Vasudev,Founder of Isha Foundation,in the dock again for illegal trapping, transporting and displaying a rat snake during his show in Chikkaballapur on last Sunday.

The program was attended by the Chief Minister and other officials.

Prathivi Raj CN,board member of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, has filed a complaint with Deputy Conservator of Forest and also copy of the complaint submitted to Deputy Commissioner ‘s office on Saturday for necessary action.

Mr. Raj in his complaint, said that Sadhguru has violated the wildlife protection act 1972,by displaying rat snake in his show. The rat snake is protected under Schedule 2 of WLPA, he said .

The snake was displayed under blazing lights on the stage in front a crowd by Sadhguru to promote his program.

The source of the snake is yet to be ascertained through proper probe, has not been handed over to the forest department till date, Mr.Raj,said in his complaint.

Citing similar violations Mr.Raj said that the same organization had earlier attempted to plant several saplings without any concern for the local species. His program was however thwarted.

Mr. Raj also cited another violation occurred last month as forest department registered a case against the representative of the Isha organization for widening the road and destroying forest for the program.

It may be recalled that the Head office of the Isha foundation has been in news for encroaching tiger corridor near Coimbatore .

He requested the forest department to take necessary action against Sadhguru for promoting mindless destruction of wildlife and nature , which would be taken up by his followers .

It is distressing to note the scant regard shown by a prominent figure towards wildlife frequently used in number of websites displaying his prowess with snakes .

The officials of the Deputy Conservator of Forest, when contacted, denied having any knowledge of complaint being filed says a senior officer.
