he Siddapura police have registered a case against the Principal,dean,program organizers,skit writer and others under SC ST atrocities Act after they caught performing skit,making derogatory and offensive remarks on Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and Dalits and reservation system at NIMHANS convention center during a college feast on Wednesday.
Taking exception to this,the management suspended six students who performed the skit and initiated a probe,adding to the worst one of the participant identified as Sunil CH,uploaded video no his social media account,lead to uproar and criticism from across .
Madhusudhana,KN,Assistant director, Social Welfare department has filed a complaint based on which the accused have been charged under SC ST atrocities act and also under section 153A ( vilification or attacks upon the religion, race,place of birth,residence) section 149 ( unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) and section 295A ( Deliberate and malicious acts,intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) .
In his complaint Mr.Madhusudhana said that the skit program not only amounts to caste abuse,defamation of the SC ST community a but also disturb communal harmony in the society.
The principal,dean and others who are part of the program should be dealt legally as such incident should not be repeated .
Meanwhile several students and dalit organizations filed complaint to Jnanabharathi station and even to the department concerned seeking strict action.
